Abstract
The present research is aimed at investigating how EFL teachers carry out the online EFL teaching and exploring its challenges. Ten EFL teachers volunteered to participate in this research through invitation. The EFL teachers were requested to fill online questionnaire and write guided reflections regarding their online- teaching practices and the challenges they encountered. To validate the data, the EFL teachers were invited to join google meeting for discussion. Data coding was done and appropriate extracts were informed in results section. The findings showed that the EFL teachers carried out online teaching through a series of activities ranging from checking the students’ attendance to assigning students some work synchronously. Various applications and platforms ranging from learning management system to additional resources were employed. However, many problems emerged from the students, the teachers, and the students’ parents. As a result, the online teaching and learning did not run well as expected. The overall problems stemmed from the teachers’ lack of preparation and planning. Implications for better online learning are discussed. Future prospective researches are directed and encouraged.
