TIPS FOR KEEPING UP STUDENTS' LEARNING MOTIVATION IN PANDEMIC SITUATION

After being 7 months of Covid19 pandemic, all students around the world get stressed and bored of doing online assignment including mine. This ends up with teachers' dilemmatic problems whether continue giving students tasks but low response from bored ones or stop sending online assignment with academic sanction from principal. In facts, we want our students to remember that they had a teacher who care about what they are going through, who assign material that matter, and who help them maintain some sense of normalcy while the rest of the world was falling apart. Don't let the stress of the coronavirus pandemic dampen our students' love for learning. Here are  tips for teaching online during COVID-19.

1. Vary e-learning web application

Online learning provide teachers around the globe with many alternatives of e-learning web application as technology advances such whatsapp,   google classroom, , zoom education, kahoot (game based learning app), photomath ( for mathematics subject), edmodo and many others to send materials, to give feedback and receive responses.

Previously, these e-learning web application used only by educational institutions with distance learning program, but this time all teachers have to understand and apply these in their online teaching.

Some of the applications are powerful and easy to use web app for seamlessly organizing the daily activities of students. Furthermore, this tool allows teachers to take online classes, distribute course materials, assign assessments, track students’ progress, send feedback, etc from anywhere at any time.

Some others provide students with games and fun tasks., therefore, these make students master each of the lessons and enjoy the learning.

By applying and varying e-learning web application, teachers provide an effective virtual learning experience to  students.

 2. Reduce the amount of students' work

Covid 19 pandemic affects routine activities of academic settings around the world. As citizens we have to do some some prevention protocols to stay healthy including students.

Giving too much assignment  to students is not a wise thing. Since it will lead them to stressful condition. Stress will affect immunity. Thus, teachers must design friendly online materials which allow students to do in happy hours.

3. Address students individually

Teaching online class allow teachers to give feedback and reward classically and individually. Pay attention to students individually is a part of teaching to keep students on the mood of learning. Giving reward to students who submit assignment on time, for example by saying,"good or excellent" is one of ways to appreciate their work. Constructive feedback to students' work will gradually lead them to intrisically motivated.

4. Update information and technology

It is not denied that the ability to operate computer and other digital devices is a must for teachers today. Online learning demands teachers with such ability to make use of those applications mentioned in point 1 above effectively. Therefore, it is very important for schools to take this vital role in providing teachers with the ability. Dissemination of information and technology must be carried out at schools in the forms of pair teaching and training.
